Why Some Famous Names Have No Star
The rules behind a missing name
Stars go through the same official process, set out on the how-to-get-a-star page. Each step is a point where a name can drop out:

The honoree’s agreement matters as much as the committee’s. A nomination must include the commitment that the nominee will attend the ceremony if selected, and the recipient has two years to schedule it. If that does not happen, the selection lapses.
Stars that were reportedly declined or not collected
Press and secondary sources, not the Chamber, report two well-known cases. Clint Eastwood is reported to have shown no interest in a star. Julia Roberts is reported to have been selected but never to have scheduled a ceremony. No reason is stated here for either.
Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and other names
Questions such as "Why isn’t Taylor Swift on the Walk of Fame?" or "Why doesn’t Beyoncé have a star?" come down to the same mechanism. A star needs a nomination, selection by the committee, a sponsor to pay the fee, and the honoree’s agreement to attend a ceremony within two years. Whether any particular person has a star, has been selected or has a ceremony scheduled is shown in the official Walk of Fame Directory and on the ceremony schedule at walkoffame.com, which are updated as stars are added.
Selected but not yet on the sidewalk
Some names are missing only for now. The Class of 2027, announced in July 2026, has 32 honorees, and each has two years to schedule a ceremony. Until the ceremony, the star is not in the pavement. The star ceremonies page explains where the schedule is published.
Stars after death
For people who have died, the official limits are one posthumous star a year and a two-year waiting period after death, with a family member accepting the star.
Checking any name
Search the name in the official directory. An entry gives the category, the address and the ceremony date; a person can have more than one entry if stars were awarded in different categories.
