Finding a Specific Walk of Fame Star

The official directory and Star Map

The official FAQ at walkoffame.com points visitors to the Walk of Fame Directory to find star locations. Each honoree’s entry gives three things: the category the star was awarded in, the street address, and the date of the ceremony. The interactive Star Map shows the same stars by location. Both are on the official site at no charge.

Reading an address to the right block

Most addresses are on Hollywood Boulevard, where the numbers climb from east to west. A few landmarks along the Walk make useful reference points:

A star in the 6800s is around Ovation Hollywood and the El Capitan; one in the high 6900s is near the Chinese Theatre and Madame Tussauds. Addresses on Vine Street belong to the segment between Sunset Boulevard and Yucca Street, which crosses Hollywood Boulevard at Hollywood and Vine.

The stars sit on both sides of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street and face both directions, "so that people walking either direction can see the stars easily", as the official site puts it. A star can be on the far side of the road from the landmark sharing its number, so scanning both kerbs helps.

Worked examples

Gene Autry is the only person with five stars, according to the official site, one in each of five categories:

• Radio at 6520 Hollywood Blvd
• Recording at 6384 Hollywood Blvd
• Television at 6667 Hollywood Blvd, outside Musso & Frank Grill
• Motion Pictures at 6644 Hollywood Blvd
• Live Performance at 7000 Hollywood Blvd, by the Hollywood Roosevelt

The example shows why the category matters: a person with more than one star has one entry per category, each at its own address.

Mickey Mouse has a star at 6925 Hollywood Blvd, in front of the TCL Chinese Theatre, with a ceremony date of 13 November 1978. Muhammad Ali is listed at 6801 Hollywood Blvd, Ovation Hollywood, but his star is mounted on a wall there, so it is found by looking up rather than down. The unusual stars page covers both.

"Does this person have a star?"

Questions such as "Does Angelina Jolie have a star?" are answered by method rather than from memory: search the name in the official directory. If an entry appears, it gives the category and address. If none appears, there are a few ordinary explanations:

• The person may have been selected but not yet had a ceremony. Recipients have two years to schedule one, and the Class of 2027, announced in July 2026, has 32 honorees.
• The person may never have been nominated, or a nomination may not have been selected; the committee picks about two dozen to 30 names a year.
• The directory may list the name in a different form, so a surname search can help.
